Tails actually flies behind you and grabs you if you fall, which I didn't expect from a handheld game. The cart works fine and the save battery still holds after all these years.
The loop-de-loop stages still feel fast even on the small Game Gear screen, and the cart worked fine on my old handheld with no save issues. Tails following along makes it way less lonely than the first one.
Tails actually follows you around in this one instead of just showing up in cutscenes, which made the co-op feel real on my old Game Gear. The loop-de-loop stages hold up way better than I expected for a handheld port.
